Site Calibration
Each individual sensor on a probe contains a factory default calibration equation, providing an estimate of soil water content. This equation is fairly robust, however for increased accuracy, site specific calibration equations can be applied to each sensor depth, according to soil properties at that site.
When calibrations are conducted according to Sentek recommended procedures, highly accurate data can be obtained, with extremely good correlations between sensor output and soil volumetric water content typically achieved. Calibrations have been conducted independently by researchers across the globe. Calibration equations can be changed anytime and already collected data can be “re-run” using a new of different calibration equation.
